Quatrosense Environmental Ltd. (QEL) is a privately held, North American Corporation. The 18,000 square foot
head office and factory is located in Richmond, Ontario, just outside Ottawa, Canada's capital. QEL manufactures
and markets a wide selection of instrumentation for hazardous gas detection, combustion analysis, and flame
detection. With this equipment QEL assists its customers in the protection of life, property, and the environment.
QEL was founded at Nepean, Ontario in 1986 with a strong commitment to research and development. The company
designed leading edge products for the commercial building, municipal, and industrial process markets. The
commercial building products gained immediate success, and by 1988, QEL had secured nearly 75% of the
Canadian market.
In 1990 QEL built and moved into its current head office and factory facility in Richmond, Ontario. This facility, located on
7.7 acres of company owned land, would provide the necessary room to accommodate QEL's growth. In the same year
QEL purchased RAB Dedesco Ltd., a local manufacturer of portable and continuous combustion analysers founded in
1970. Dedesco equipment utilized similar sensing technologies and had a strong reputation in the marketplace for
quality and durability; a reputation it still enjoys today.
Since 1991, QEL has focused its growing resources on diversification of the product line. Indoor air quality and
refrigerant leak gas detection products were developed that today produce large volumes of sales. Specialized
equipment and turnkey systems were also developed for numerous markets including the Mining, Petrochemical,
Breweries, and Landfill Industry. New gas sensors, design and packaging improvements increased the quality and
reliability of the industrial products throughout the 1990's. This commitment to innovation has served as a platform
to launch QEL into the next decade. Commitment has also produced a number of strategic alliances. One of QEL's
most recognizable alliances is with NASA and the United Space Alliance (USA). It is here that leading edge
products have been developed that are critical to the safety and integrity of the U.S. Shuttle program. The level of
quality required for these products becomes standard throughout QEL's operations. This has produced an ISO 9001
compliant quality system as recognized by NASA for instrumentation used in support of the Shuttle program.
QEL values its customers. Customer feedback fuels research projects, new product development, and product
enhancements. QEL today is an exciting company undergoing constant change for improvement. Production
facilities are continually upgraded. The international Engineering staff produces a constant stream of new product
development and enhancement to existing products. The Sales and Marketing department has been expanded
to include a comprehensive Customer Service Team. They provide customer support in everything from application
assistance to routine field maintenance and service of existing systems
QEL is dedicated to continuing its leadership in its field. We will maintain this through a dynamic commitment to
research, targeting new technologies, improving the quality of its products and services, and strengthening the
skills of its people.
Our objective is both simple and progressive; to further develop QEL's position in supplying environmental
solutions to the world well into the twenty-first century.
